Our justice system, while good, isn’t perfect. Every now and then the verdict of a high-profile case will be overturned. New evidence may come to light or a mistake may have been made during the trial. Job felt he was an innocent man who had been wrongly convicted and then severely punished. He was innocent but couldn’t get anyone to listen. And so we read of Job’s complaints about his situation.
I remember when i was a teenager having to decide between going with a friend to a party, or meeting other friends at church youth group. I felt that the choice of friends I made in that moment would affect the direction of my life with God. Thankfully I chose to go meet my youth group friends! Friendships are important to us. We have been created as social beings and developing good friendships enhances our lives. However, given our human weakness we are not always good friends to others and sometimes they are not good friends to us. |
