Did you watch the royal wedding last weekend? It had pomp and ceremony, a Hollywood A-list cast, royals, pop stars, and sports stars; it had a gripping story with a party prince marrying his true love; the staging was marvellous: a castle, a beautiful chapel, the quaint village, the long walk crowded with well-wishers. But is it just a fairy-tale relationship with no real substance, or will it be authentic, genuine and lasting? Is it the real deal?

Have you ever experienced a moment in life where you wondered, is this all a dream? Have you asked the question What is real? Roger Olson defines reality as being true always, everywhere, for everyone regardless of time or space. Many people seek to define their own reality in the bubble of their individual life, saying what is true for you is true for you, and what is true for me is true for me. But if we each have our own little bubbles of self defined reality are they real at all or just self-delusions? Read: Psalm 51:1–12; Colossians 3:1–14
I wonder if the things we want to give our mothers, even expensive gifts, don’t always match up with what they really want. A box of chocolates or a bunch of flowers are nice things to give our mothers on Mother’s Day, but is it the item or its value that really matters to them? What do mothers really want from their children? Or, since not all of us are mothers, what does our mother really want from us? Read: Ephesians 4.11-16 & Hebrews 5.11-6.3
Mrs Jones was an atheist who thought Christians were "idiots". She had an argument with a Christian who suggested she was missing the whole point of Christianity and so she decided to read the bible. She says, This book began to read me as I was reading it. So began her journey to spiritual birth and growing in faith. Each of us has a different starting point in our spiritual journey and we are at different points in our progress towards spiritual maturity. Some are young in the faith, some are mature Christians, others are seeking but are yet to make a step of commitment to Jesus. |
