Measure UpAs a church, how do we measure up? Sometimes the church gets it right, while at other times the church fails badly. What does Jesus think about the church? If Jesus were to assess how our church is measuring up, what would he say about us? Would he encourage or rebuke us?
We get an insight into this when we read what Jesus had to say about the seven churches in the book of Revelation. While much of Revelation is difficult to understand, this section is very relevant to modern day church life. As we consider the strengths and weaknesses of these churches we can learn what pleases Jesus and what he desires for and from his people. We also learn about Jesus himself, the Lord of Glory, who looks expectantly at the church to persevere through difficulties, to thrive where they live and to shine as beacons of love and hope. And this glorious Jesus promises rich rewards of life, a crown and authority to those who persevere and overcome the obstacles they are facing. In this series be prepared for encouragement and challenge as we listen to what the Spirit says to the churches and see how we measure up.
