A Greyfriars Alpha Course is running from 25 September to 4 December.
The Alpha course is a ten-week opportunity to explore the validity and relevance of the christian faith in your life today. It is a practical introduction to the basics of christianity centred around a meal, a talk and a small-group discussion. It particularly caters for:
- people inquiring about spiritual meaning
- people seeking a faith with meaning for the future
- those wanting to investigate christianity
- newcomers to church and/or christianity
- those who want to refresh their faith

Senior Minister - Rob Yule |

Very Rev. Robert M. Yule, BA, BD, was appointed minister of Greyfriars on 30 January 2003. A third-generation Presbyterian minister, oldest son of former minister Morrison Yule, Rob has had extensive experience as chaplain at Victoria University of Wellington (1973-78), parish minister in Hornby, Christchurch (1979-87) and St. Alban's, Palmerston North (1987-2002), Board member of Presbyterian Renewal Ministries (1985-96), and Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Aotearoa New Zealand (2000-2002). He is married to Christene, and they have five children and nine grandchildren. |
Community Minister - Ron Lau'ese |

Rev. Ronald ('Ron') T. Lau'ese, BTh, DipTh, DipMin, was commissioned as Greyfriars' Community Minister on 2 March 2006, with responsibility for the church's outreach into the community and for establishing a second, family-oriented, contemporary morning service. Ron is a third-generation Samoan minister, a gifted musician, and former minister of St. Andrew's and St. Philip's Presbyterian Churches, Birkenhead-Birkdale, North Shore City. He is married to Lofi, and has two children. |
Korean Minister - Jung Hun Choi |

Jung became Local Ordained Minister of the multicultural Korean language congregation
in Greyfriars on 11 October 2007. After 3½ years as Youth Pastor at the Lord's Church,
the Korean Presbyterian Church of Auckland, he joined Greyfriars in July 2004 and has served
the Korean language congregation since 2005. Jung has a B.Sc in physics from Korea University,
a B.Min from the Bible College of New Zealand, and is currently training for national ordination
in the Presbyterian Church. He has a vision of helping Korean migrants to New Zealand
worship in a multi-cultural setting, to help their second generation adjust better to living
in New Zealand. Jung is married to Eun Young Kim and they have two children, Ginho and Rina.

Youth Pastor - Simon Mahoney |

Simon was appointed Greyfriars Youth Pastor in January 2005, after completing a Bachelor of Ministry degree from the Bible College of New Zealand in Henderson. While studying he was also part-time Youth Pastor of a Baptist Church in West Auckland. Simon has travelled quite extensively overseas, and worked overseas with young people while attending a bible school in Texas. He became a Christian on one of these trips while working at a Salvation Army camp in Pennsylvania, United States. He married Susan, a medical doctor, in mid-2006. His interests include soccer and golf. |
Children’s Worker – Jang Seong Sil |

Jang Seong Sil was appointed half-time Children's Worker in Greyfriars on 1 August 2008, ten years after she first lived in Mt. Eden caring for missionaries’ children at the headquarters of WEC International. Seong Sil has a Bachelor of Art Design from Dong Duk Women’s University in Seoul, Korea, and a Master of Divinity from Hapdong Theological Seminary, Suwon, Korea. From 2002-2007 she served in her father’s church, Eun Pyung Presbyterian Church in Seoul, where she was responsible for the education of primary and intermediate children and pianist for their English language service. She is married to Jong Il, a computer programmer. |
Group Facilitator – Rachel Mackay |

Rachel Mackay, BA, BCom, began working in Greyfriars in October 2007, after 7 years as personnel director of Interserve NZ, an international agency that places people to work in Asia and the Middle East. Her role in Greyfriars includes supporting and developing our network of small groups, and helping the church's various ministries to be effective. Rachel and her husband Malcolm have been involved with Greyfriars for 18 years, and have two young-adult sons. |
Greyfriars Counsellor - Janet Thompson |

Janet started the Greyfriars Counselling Service in 1997. A member of Greyfriars since 1995, she works in both a personal capacity and as a care-giver in the Greyfriars' Care Team. Janet is also experiencing the exciting benefits of working as a Restorative Justice facilitator with offenders and victims for the Restorative Justice Services Auckland Group. She is married to Bryan and lives in Glendowie. |
Office Manager - Pat McKinney |

Pat joined the staff at Greyfriars as Office Manager in January 2006 after working for 18 years as personal assistant to the Group Manager of a large New Zealand charitable organization. She combines an expertise in office procedures with a sunny disposition and a love for people. She is married to Paul and has two grown up children. Pat and Paul have come back to Greyfriars after five-years away from the area, and have enjoyed meeting up with old friends again. |
Finance Administrator – Phillip Severn |

Phillip Severn, BCA, studied commerce and accountancy at Victoria University of Wellington, and has been a company accountant for most of his working life. After long involvement with Presbyterian churches in Silverstream and Epsom, he and his wife Anne came to Greyfriars in 2006. They have two young-adult children – a son and a daughter. Phillip joined the staff of Greyfriars as part-time Finance Administrator in August 2008. |
